Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim on child and elder abuse(Updated: )
There has been an upward trend in child and elder abuse cases in recent years, and this is because of increased awareness of how to identify and report such cases. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said this in Parliament on Monday (Feb 11). He was answering questions from MPs Intan Azura Mokhtar and Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap. Assoc Prof Faishal said his ministry has investigated an average of 600 child abuse cases annually in the past five years and an average of 78 cases of elder abuse a year since 2015.
