Ong Ye Kung on safeguards in trading of local securities

There have been no signs that online discussions have led to any significant increase in the trading of securities listed in Singapore, said Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) board member Ong Ye Kung in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 16). He said MAS and SGX RegCo are nonetheless on heightened alert after recent events in the US. Responding to an MP’s questions, Mr Ong outlined the safeguards in place to mitigate the risks of similar scenarios happening in Singapore.
