Tan Kiat How on managing spike in visitors to nature parks during the pandemic

The National Parks Board monitors and controls park crowds in real time. It even closes crowded parks or park areas for a period of time if needed. The public is also updated online on park visitor levels. For parks that are near residential areas, NParks increases patrols during peak periods as one of the measures to reduce potential disamenities to residents. Minister of State for National Development Tan Kiat How said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 24), in reply to an MP's questions on park overcrowding and its impact during the COVID-19 pandemic.
