Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim on COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Amendment) Bill

(Updated: )

In Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 2), MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim said the debate on the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Amendment) Bill would shape how Singapore treats data privacy issues in future, but that the legislation was a temporary compromise at least till the pandemic is over. He suggested setting up a channel to look into any complaints of breaches in accessing TraceTogether data, within the Personal Data Protection Commission and independent of the police. He also said crimes against children under 14 and vulnerable persons should be considered serious enough to allow data access too.
