Desmond Tan on Guns, Explosives and Weapons Control Bill(Updated: )
It will be illegal to own digital plans to 3D-print a gun or gun part, under a proposed new law. Minister of State for Home Affairs Desmond Tan gave details in Parliament on Monday (Jan 4). The new law will also raise the maximum fine for unlicensed activities involving guns and explosives from S$10,000 currently to S$50,000 for individuals and S$100,000 for entities. Those penalties will double for offences involving prohibited weapons that are considered especially dangerous. The Bill also outlines ways to optimise enforcement resources to better regulate the industry.
