Adjournment motion on sexuality education as first line of defence against sexual violence(Updated: )
The scourge of sexual violence cannot just be tackled through criminal deterrence; getting to the root of the problem requires starting with education, said MP Raeesah Khan in Parliament on Tuesday (Jul 6). She asked that sexuality education be made mandatory from a young age, with a standardised curriculum at preschool level; and to be sustained and relatable over the years. Responding, Minister of State for Education Sun Xueling detailed how sexuality education is conducted, from body safety awareness for preschoolers and evolving with age-appropriate content all the way to tertiary level.
