Derrick Goh on Registration of Births and Deaths Bill(Updated: )
If a person out on a morning jog stumbles upon a dead body, can they simply call the police or must they report the death to a medical practitioner? This question was posed by MP Derrick Goh, who noted that based on a Bill up for debate, the duty to report a death might fall on individuals who have nothing at all to do with the deceased; failing which, they could be fined and jailed. In Parliament on Tuesday (Jul 6), he also asked if digitalising the death registration process could lead to increased fees for the bereaved.
