Denise Phua on Fortitude Budget(Updated: )
During the debate on the Fortitude Budget in Parliament on Friday (Jun 5), MP Denise Phua spoke of longer-term support for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) amid the economic crisis caused by COVID-19. She said some will need help to not just adopt but sustain digitalisation efforts. For SMEs that have to fold, but still have acumen and energy, she mooted the equivalent of a professional conversion scheme to help them seize opportunities in “sunrise” sectors. Ms Phua also urged the Government to raise the S$250,000 cap on matching fundraising by charities.
