Zaqy Mohamad on work injury compensation under COVID-19 work-from-home arrangements(Updated: )
Employees who sustain injuries while working from home can claim compensation from their companies. Minister of State for Manpower Zaqy Mohamad said this in Parliament on Thursday (Jun 4) in reply to MPs’ questions. “Work-from-home arrangements do not change an employer’s responsibility for work injury compensation,” he said. Mr Zaqy said the key is to ascertain that the injury arose while doing work at home and not while performing non-work activities at home. He described this as a “fact-finding exercise” that is no different from all other work injury compensation claims.
