Lam Pin Min on Small Motorised Vehicles (Safety) Bill and Active Mobility (Amendment No. 2) Bill

(Updated: )

From the first quarter of next year, anyone who wants to import e-scooters and e-bikes must get approval from the Land Transport Authority. This will make it easier to crack down on non-compliant devices. At the same time, e-scooters cannot be used on path-connected open spaces, such as courtyards and town plazas. These key moves proposed to tighten the regulatory regime were outlined by Senior Minister of State for Transport Lam Pin Min during the second reading of the Small Motorised Vehicles (Safety) Bill and Active Mobility (Amendment No. 2) Bill in Parliament on Tuesday (May 26).
