Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 3: Louis Chua on childcare and eldercare leave

03:40 Min
In Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2), MP Louis Chua proposed that childcare leave be extended on a per-child basis and for children up to age 12. Currently, childcare leave of six days a year is held constant regardless of the number of children and the age limit is below seven. Furthermore, given an increasingly ageing society, he asked if time off to take care of parents could be considered a statutory form of leave. He also asked if it was time to legislate the baseline level of flexible work arrangements.
