Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats built on prime land usually come at a higher cost and yet appeal to many, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4). She asked how the Government will ensure that these flats remain accessible and affordable to all Singaporeans, and if there are plans for them to retain the “inclusive and diverse characteristics of HDB estates”. Ms Nadia also welcomed new public housing models targeted at specific groups, such as assisted living for the elderly, but asked if their potential impact on the values of surrounding flats is being studied.
