Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 5: Poh Li San on affordable and inclusive public housing

02:26 Min
Property prices in Singapore have continued to rise, defying the typical downward trend in a recession, said MP Poh Li San. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4), she raised concerns that as the costs of construction increase, developers may pass on the higher costs to the buyers. Noting that more than 80 per cent of the population lives in public housing estates, she asked if the Government can assure Singaporeans that public housing will be kept affordable, inclusive and liveable, even with the rising costs of development.
