Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 6: Eric Chua on family-centric support for youths(Updated: )
The number of youths arrested has dropped by about 40 per cent over the last decade, an indication that progress has been made by the National Committee on Prevention, Rehabilitation and Recidivism. The age limit for protection from abuse for children was raised from 16 to 18 and the shift from Beyond Parental Control to Family Guidance Orders allowed families to resolve their issues without the court's intervention. Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua said this in Parliament on Friday (Mar 5).
