Intan Azura Mokhtar on Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Bill(Updated: )
MP Intan Azura Mokhtar spoke about academic freedom in relation to the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Bill. “I believe this Bill is not a life sentence for academics,” she said in Parliament on Wednesday (May 8). She suggested that an academic and research advisory panel be set up, similar to the Singapore Medical Council. Its job should be to provide general oversight and decide on academic and research work and publications that would otherwise need to be put up as appeals to the court.
