In Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 4), Leader of the House Indranee Rajah addressed a call by Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh to decouple the functions of the Attorney-General as Government legal adviser and public prosecutor, elaborating on why there was no issue of the AG being able to act independently in those roles. Before she spoke, five amendments proposed by MP Murali Pillai to the motion filed by Workers’ Party chairman Sylvia Lim on Singapore’s justice system were approved.
