Irene Quay on Employment (Amendment) Bill(Updated: )
NMP Irene Quay called for employees to be allowed to take up to three days of non-consecutive sick leave each year without having to submit medical certificates. She said people who have to get MCs for common ailments like the flu risk spreading their infection to others. She also felt that the move could build trust between staff and bosses. Ms Quay was speaking on the Employment (Amendment) Bill, which will require employers to recognise MCs from all doctors.
