Ministerial statement: K Shanmugam on review of the Parti Liyani case (Part 2)(Updated: )
No pressure or influence was exerted by Liew Mun Leong or anyone acting on his behalf in the Parti Liyani case, which was treated like a routine theft, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam told Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 4). He said the case in fact illustrates how the rule of law applies in Singapore. In answer to MPs’ questions filed earlier, Mr Shanmugam said serious consideration is being given to creating a public defender’s office. He also had an exchange with NCMP Leong Mun Wai on Mr Leong’s request for an independent inquiry into the Parti Liyani case.
