Vikram Nair on reviewing Singapore’s justice system(Updated: )
In Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 4), MP Vikram Nair said many of the suggestions made by the Workers’ Party in its motion on improving fairness and access in Singapore’s justice system are worth considering. He said it would be helpful if more people were given access to legal counsel, and possibly earlier, and he supported setting up a public defender’s office. Mr Nair also gave examples of how the justice system has evolved to be fairer over the years, such as in criminal disclosure requirements, victim compensation and video recording of interviews.
