Adjournment motion on protection against secondhand smoke in homes

(Updated: )

Ban people from smoking near windows and at balconies of HDB flats and private apartments, and use cameras to identify those who flout the rule - that call was from MP Louis Ng in Parliament on Monday (Oct 5). Raising an adjournment motion on protection against secondhand smoke in homes, he called it a public health concern that Singapore cannot leave unresolved. In response, Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor agreed that tackling the issue is a priority, but said that such a law could infringe on residents’ privacy and would be challenging to enforce.
