Take a tiered approach to subsidies for skills upgrading, instead of "backloading" extra subsidies only when Singaporeans reach the age of 40 - that suggestion came from MP Murali Pillai, who said this would encourage even younger workers to retrain and get into better jobs. In Parliament on Thursday (Oct 15), Mr Murali also called for more to be done to increase the employment of ex-offenders, whose job prospects have become even more challenging during the COVID-19 downturn.
