Even as Singapore’s rate of coronavirus infection slows and it reopens its economy, Singaporeans must remember that things are unlikely ever to return to a pre-COVID normal. Senior Minister of State for Manpower Zaqy Mohamad said this in Parliament on Thursday (Oct 15) when he outlined extensive support given by the Government to help businesses and workers cope with the impact of the pandemic. On a positive note, he said business models are changing fast and there is hiring even in sectors badly hit by the crisis, such as tourism and retail.
