Derrick Goh on Environmental Public Health (Amendment) Bill(Updated: )
With more people working from home and staying at home amid COVID-19, there have been more complaints about secondhand smoke in residential spaces, said MP Derrick Goh in Parliament on Monday (Oct 5). Instead of non-smokers shutting their windows or doors to avoid the smoke from their neighbours, he suggested requiring resident smokers to do so, or to use open spaces at the ground floor, when they wish to smoke. This, he said, would be a "balanced approach" that recognises the need for both sides, not just the public whose health is being endangered, to play their part.
