Liang Eng Hwa on Resource Sustainability Bill(Updated: )
MP Liang Eng Hwa said the food waste situation in Singapore is “worrying”, with large amounts of food produced but not consumed. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Sep 4) on the Resource Sustainability Bill, he said the problem stems from a lack of awareness to prevent and reduce food waste at its source, as well as a lack of food waste recycling and treatment infrastructure in Singapore. He urged the Government to explore more game-changing measures to reduce food waste, which requires systems, regulatory and lifestyle changes.
