Ms Jeanette Sim, 43, a resident who lives near the site of the accident, said she was doing some work in her living room when she heard a loud bang.

“I saw the passenger of the taxi walk out in a daze and slightly limped towards the direction of Holland Village. The front of the cars seemed to be stuck to each other,” she said.

“Cars were running over car parts that were scattered along the road. People from across the road, at the Esso station, were gathering to watch.”

Another car and an SMRT taxi stopped to help, Ms Sim said, adding that this other car left shortly after while the SMRT taxi stayed.

The taxi and the car involved in the accident were towed away at about 4.50am, she said.
