SINGAPORE: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for scamming people with fake tickets to a Jay Chou concert.
Police said in a news release on Friday (Sep 9) that they received multiple reports from people who were purportedly cheated by a seller who offered Jay Chou tickets for sale online.
The suspect convinced victims to meet up in public places and to pass him cash, and passed them forged tickets in return. When holders of these fake tickets went to the concert on Sep 3 at the Singapore Sports Hub, they were denied entry.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, and will be charged in court on Saturday. He faces up to 10 years' jail if convicted of cheating.
Tickets for the concert ranged from S$108 to S$338.
