RIO DE JANEIRO: A total of 21 gold medals are up for grabs on the seventh day of competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In swimming, Joseph Schooling is looking to earn his first Olympics medal as he swims alongside American Michael Phelps and South Africa's Chad Le Clos at about 9am (Singapore time) on Saturday in the 100 metres butterfly final. Schooling, 21, clocked 50.83 seconds as the fastest qualifier from the semi-finals.
Other Singaporeans in action on late Friday evening include the women's table tennis team, who will face Egypt in the first round. Later, shuttler Derek Wong will pit himself against Soren Opti of Suriname.
At the stroke of midnight, rower Saiyidah Aisyah will represent Singapore in her single sculls semi-finals, while sailing duo Griselda Khng and Sara Tan kick off their racing in the 49er FX.
