Budget 2021 debate: Seah Kian Peng on giving the low-income an online boost

The Government should consider giving all low-income households, especially those with school-going children, free broadband connections. It would be a great equaliser in an increasingly digital world, said MP Seah Kian Peng in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 24). He noted that while hundreds of families now have access to free broadband, the scheme could be greatly expanded. "Providing the basics of a digital life is as much a public duty as it is providing national defence and education," he said.
