Budget 2021 debate: Xie Yao Quan on managing healthcare costs, strengthening social services

"We have to try and contain cost per capita, in other words, the cost to care for each Singaporean on average," said MP Xie Yao Quan in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 25). Acknowledging the ever-rising cost of healthcare, he stressed the need for subsidies and other financing tools to keep up with the enhanced salary for healthcare providers. He also raised the need to help underprivileged children stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers.
