Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 1: Alex Yam on Smart Nation paying off 'handsomely'

The Government's foresight in progressively building up digital infrastructure and engineering capabilities has paid off "handsomely". One cannot imagine how Singaporeans could have coped were it not for the Smart Nation infrastructure that was already in place pre-pandemic, said MP Alex Yam in Parliament on Friday (Feb 26). Minimising the impact of COVID-19 has also allowed the economy to enter the recovery stage while the general population gets to resume life with some form of normalcy, he added.
