In the short term, the Ministry of Manpower must secure Singapore's economic rebound by shoring up the hiring of locals. In the medium and longer term, it must help every segment of the workforce emerge stronger, including migrant and foreign domestic workers. Manpower Minister Josephine Teo said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3), as she outlined the key priorities and programmes of her ministry. She said Singapore must help businesses to transform, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as strengthen fairness and support for workers.
