Singapore's recycling rate for plastics stands at a mere 4 per cent, so there has to be a reduction of plastic consumption, especially in single-use plastics. MP Dennis Tan raised this in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4), calling for a fee to be imposed on single-use plastic bags across all retailers and food and beverage outlets.
