SINGAPORE: Go-Ahead Singapore commenced operations on Sunday (Sep 18) of the remaining 11 of 24 existing public bus services under the Loyang Bus Package.
The services are 2, 6, 12, 15, 17, 36, 354, 358, 359, 403 and 518, covering areas including Bedok, Changi, Loyang and Orchard.
The company has also assumed responsibility for managing the Pasir Ris Bus Interchange.
The 11 services are part of the Government’s bus contracting model. The first bus to enter commuter service was a Mercedes Citaro from Bedok on Service 17.
Go-Ahead Singapore now operates 24 bus services, with a 25th to be launched in 2017.
Approximately 700 bus captains are employed and the vehicle fleet is just under 400 buses, all of which are based at Loyang Depot.
Go-Ahead deputy chairman David Cutts, who oversaw the launch, commented: “Our staff have worked hard to reach this point and are dedicated to providing a quality service. I would also like to thank the LTA, NTWU and SBS Transit for working closely with us on the transition.”
