SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Sunday (Aug 18) outlined plans to lower the cost of pre-school and tertiary education. In his National Day Rally speech, he also announced plans to raise the retirement age and re-employment age by 2030, and to increase CPF contributions for older workers.
Climate change was another key focus of his speech, with Mr Lee describing it as one of the “gravest challenges facing humankind”. The impact on Singapore is likely to worsen, he said, adding that the country must beef up its coastal defences to protect itself against rising sea levels.
