SINGAPORE: The Loyang bus package, consisting of 25 bus services run by Go-Ahead Singapore, will start operations in two tranches to "ensure a smooth transition with minimal inconvenience to commuters", Go-Ahead and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Thursday (Aug 4).
Thirteen of the bus services will start on Sep 4, while another 11 will start on Sep 18. The last service will start in 2017, with details announced closer to the date, they said in a joint press release.
"Although the implementation of this model is a relatively new experience for many of us, we are heartened by the close cooperation among all parties – Go-Ahead Singapore, SBS Transit and the National Transport Workers’ Union – to make this process a successful one."
Go-Ahead Singapore managing director Nigel Wood said the bus operator is currently in the final stage of preparations and "well-placed" to deliver its services to for the Loyang bus package.
"Over the last few months, we have met a number of important targets, such as bus captain recruitment, creation of a service control centre and commissioning a number of brand new buses," he said.
"It is very important that we get off to a smooth start and I therefore ask passengers to look out for associated publicity materials onboard the buses and at the key transport nodes, in advance of our September start date. Among other things, it details our routes, timetables and how to get in touch."
