SINGAPORE: As the end of 2015 approaches, revellers can look forward to an eight-minute long firework display at the stroke of midnight, said organisers Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in a joint press release on Monday (Dec 14).
They added that the fireworks on Dec 31 will span the entire Marina Bay for the first time. “Designed to embody Singapore’s dauntless spirit to scale new heights, the firework display is also accompanied by a rousing original score composed by young music director Julian Wong,” the press release said.
Before the firework display, there will be a light projection show on the facade of The Fullerton Hotel, depicting “the dynamism and vibrancy of the future of Singapore”, they added.
Daily light projection shows on the facade of The Fullerton Hotel will make a comeback as well, from Dec 26 to 31. The shows, which take place at various timings, will feature images that capture Singapore's identity, such as shophouses and tropical landscapes, said the organisers.
As part of the festivities, organisers said they will be working with stakeholders to feature synchronised themed lighting for buildings around the Marina Bay area on New Year's Eve.
Chief Executive Officer of Esplanade, Mr Benson Puah, said: “With the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2016, we start a new chapter in the Singapore story by coming together as a nation and imagining the possibilities that the future holds. We hope to capture the excitement and anticipation of looking ahead, wishing earnestly and dreaming big.”
Broadcaster Mediacorp will also present its countdown concert at The Float @ Marina Bay on Dec 31. It will feature an ensemble of local artistes as well as US singer-songwriter Adam Lambert.
