Mediacorp signs new Collective Agreement with broadcasting union

Some new items covered in the new Agreement include enhancements to medical and night shift allowances, prolonged illness leave and greater recognition for long service.

SINGAPORE: Mediacorp, Mediacorp TV Singapore and the Singapore Union of Broadcasting Employees (SUBE) signed a new Collective Agreement on Friday (Sept 2).

The new Agreement is valid for three years from Aug 1, 2016 to Jul 31, 2019. Some new items covered in the new Agreement include enhancements to medical and night shift allowances, prolonged illness leave and greater recognition for long service.

"We are pleased to conclude the Collective Agreement and would like to thank SUBE for their professionalism during the negotiations," said Mediacorp Chief HR Officer Kenneth Soh.

"We were able to conclude the CA as a result of mutual understanding, collaboration and goodwill by both parties," he added. "We look forward to building on the foundation of mutual trust and respect to further strengthen labour management relations for the benefit of the Company and employees."

Negotiations for the new Agreement commenced close to five months ago.

Two Memorandum of Understanding were also signed: One between Mediacorp Press and SUBE on collective representation of eligible employees of Mediacorp Press, and one between Mediacorp and SUBE on the salary ranges of employees from executive job grade to manager job grade.
