SINGAPORE: Two of the 10 new hawker centres to be built by 2027 will be in Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Batok, Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said on Monday (Jul 13).
In a written answer to Parliamentary questions from MPs David Ong and Zaqy Mohamad, Dr Balakrishnan said: "At the Committee of Supply 2015, the Government announced that an additional 10 new hawker centres will be built by 2027. They will be located in new estates or existing ones that are relatively under-served.
"Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Batok Towns are two areas identified for these new hawker centres."
He added: “As we are still in the early planning stages for these centres, the ministry can only provide more details of the proposed hawker centres in these areas when the plans are ready."
