Paralympics: Singapore sailors withdraw from event after one suffers seizure

The decision was made by Chef de Mission Ho Cheng Kwee, after Yap suffered a seizure on Wednesday.

SINGAPORE: Sailors Jovin Tan and Yap Qian Yin have withdrawn from one of their events at the Rio 2016 Paralympics on medical advice, the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) said in a statement on Friday (Sep 15).

The decision was made by Chef de Mission Ho Cheng Kwee, after Yap took ill on Wednesday. According to Mr Ho, the paraplegic suffered a seizure.

The pair withdrew from the SKUD 18 sailing event which took place in Rio de Janerio on Thursday.

“While she is currently stable and recovering, the doctors advised against her participation in the event on Sep 15, 2016,” said SDSC. “The health and well-being of our athletes take priority.”
