SINGAPORE: Following the success of the inaugural Reebok Spartan Race Singapore last year, the obstacle race will return on May 7, organiser Mediacorp announced on Monday (Mar 28).
This year's race course will span the jungled terrain at Tampines Ave 10, and promises a rougher, tougher landscape featuring dense foliage, wildlife and a lot more mud, Mediacorp said. Last year's challenge was held at an open area along Nicoll Highway.
The obstacle race's second instalment will encompass two separate races - the Spartan Sprint, and the more challenging Spartan Super, which will include 30 obstacles over a 13-kilometre run. Spartan Super will also give participants the opportunity to gun for the Spartan Trifecta - which entails completing the Spring, Super and Beast races.
“Last year, the Spartan Sprint was an urban race meant to showcase the cityscape. This time round, we’ve answered your questions — you wanted mud, you’re going to get it," said CEO and founder of the Spartan Race Joe De Sena. "Get yourself ready because this is not going to be like last year. Rough, rugged and muddy Singapore, this is exactly what the doctor ordered."
SPARTAN JUNIOR RACE TO RETURN
The Spartan Junior Race will also be making a return this year. Ms Lesley Ngai, Vice President of Business & Operations for Mediacorp's Men and Parents Segments, said this year's Junior Race will be more stimulating and fun, after taking into account feedback from parents.
“The new, muddier venue will add to this invaluable experience by providing an exciting outdoor environment for kids to run, crawl, climb and unleash their inner Spartan," she said.
