SINGAPORE: The Seletar Aerospace Flyover will open at 5am on Saturday, May 16, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced in a press release on Monday (May 4).
The dual three-lane interchange will link motorists to the Central Expressway (CTE), Seletar Expressway (SLE) and Tampines Expressway (TPE). It will also provide direct access to Seletar Aerospace Way, which leads to the Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP).
Residents in the area can also look forward to a direct connection to the TPE using the new dual three-lane Sengkang West Road. Previously, motorists from Yio Chu Kang Road had to use the single-lane Jalan Kayu to reach the expressway network. With Sengkang West Road, traffic conditions along Jalan Kayu are expected to improve, LTA said.
Works to build the flyover across the TPE and six viaducts connecting the new slip roads began in the second quarter of 2011. With three lanes in each direction, the new interchange will have the capacity to support future developments in the SAP and Sengkang West Industrial, LTA added.
Further expansion works are expected to complete by the end of this year.
