SINGAPORE: About a month after it announced that train services at 13 stations would start an hour later on Sundays for extended maintenance hours, transport operator SMRT has released details about a temporary parallel bus service to ferry passengers travelling between Joo Koon and Bukit Gombak during the affected period.
In a press release on Wednesday (May 11), SMRT said that the bus service will ply the route from Joo Koon MRT station to Bukit Gombak MRT station (via Jurong East MRT station) in both directions.
The service will operate with 10-minute intervals between 5.30am and 7am on Sundays from Jun 5 to Dec 18, when train services are not available, and fares will be "commensurate with the train distance travelled", SMRT said.

Train, bus and hybrid concession passes will be accepted and distance fare rules will be applied for the new route, SMRT added.
The company also said there would still be regular bus services available between Jurong East and Queenstown, as well as to other affected MRT stations during this time.
With the temporarily delayed operating hours, train services on the East-West Line start around 7am instead of around 6am between Joo Koon and Queenstown, in both directions.
For the North-South Line, three stations – Jurong East, Bukit Batok and Bukit Gombak – will be affected in both directions, with starting times also pushed back to around 7am.
