Farmers like Khalilur Rahman in India’s Assam state are used to anticipating floods. But this year’s monsoon rains were different – intense, giving no warning of flooding. Climate change is exacerbating extreme weather events in India, which is home to one-third of the world’s poor. And it is they who pay the heaviest price for global warming.
