The old Sungei Road market was a popular flea market for eclectic goods. The market was closed in 2017 to make way for redevelopment. Up to 300 peddlers lost their stalls. These ex-vendors retired, took on odd jobs or moved to other smaller flea markets scattered around Singapore.
