Kinmen Emigrants Part 1

Kinmen - it is hard not to be intrigued by the mysterious old battlefields, and harder not to be stunned by the beautiful old mansions of the Ming Dynasty and the Wind Lion Gods that behold. Kinmen preserves a history and culture that no others can duplicate. The story “homeland of overseas Chinese” goes...  Since 1806, many sons of Kinmen left to make a living in foreign lands, leaving their footprints throughout Southeast Asia, regardless of hardships. There were happy and sad endings; some died, some settled down and got married, while some aspired to return home with pride. For a long time, many families in Kinmen depended on “foreign remits”. Because of this, the economy flourished and gave rise to the many splendid western-style houses in the village, each signifying a struggling story. Marvel at the magnificent house-cum-gun tower of Huang Hui Huang’s!

At Zhushan settlement, salute the houses hanging with the national emblem.

Visit Bishan settlement and marvel at yet another nostalgia western-style house built by Chen Jing Ji. The words “union is strength” at the door and its imported ceramic tiles - a thing from the past, but a joy forever.

At the Chen Keng seafront sits the biggest western-style house in Kinmen built by Chen Jing Lan. It is hard not to be touched by his love, passion and effort in setting up schools. Join us at Kinmen to feast your eyes on the historical buildings and cultural sites, learn about its rich history and feel the hardships of the old Kinmen people.
