Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Part 2

The Tri-mountain National Scenic Area encompasses three wonderful mountainous areas in Taiwan, 18 townships and covers more than 70,000 hectares. Begin your adventure from Lion’s Head Mountain to Lishan, then to Baguashan.

Our first stop is the Lion’s Head Mountain in Miaoli. Stroll the Penglai River Ecology Park, a haven for wild fishes, making your journey into the wild a refreshing one.

Next, let’s experience the Hakka culture in Beipu. Here, you can check out the preserved old buildings, uncover the old streets and learn to grind the Hakka traditional “lei” tea (thunder tea).

Now that we have reached the foot of Baguashan, be entertained by the warm locals while savoring authentic Taiwanese snacks or enjoy a thrilling ride by speeding side by side the moving train.

From Datong township, Yilan, we take the Provincial Highway 7, to the very much forgotten Lishan, which was taken down by the 921 earthquake. Lishan remains glorious; its pears are still red and honey apples are still sweet. Even Lishan Guesthouse, one of the official residences of the then President Chiang Kai-shek, still sits majestically.

From valleys to mountains, from scenic to history, “Welcome 2 Taiwan” is set to bring you the most enriching experience in the Tri-mountain National Scenic Area.
