Between the Lines

2017 has been a year in which the world seems to have taken a step closer to war, what with North Korea's march towards being a nuclear power and cyber warfare having a bigger impact. The China-US relationship seems to be evolving too, with the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China consolidating Xi Jinping's power in the first, tumultuous year of Trump's presidency. Closer to home, ASEAN celebrated its 50th anniversary but had to deal with the seige of Marawi and the Rohingya crisis that flared up even more intensely. Will there be a resolution to these challenges in 2018? Our panel of experts share their views.
