Chee Hong Tat on review of cycling rules for safer shared roads

(Updated: )

The Active Mobility Advisory Panel (AMAP) is reviewing ways for motorists, cyclists and other users to share road space safely. It is also mulling stronger safety rules and stiffer penalties. Senior Minister of State for Transport Chee Hong Tat gave this update in Parliament on Tuesday (May 11) in reply to Parliamentary questions. He said AMAP is looking into suggestions from the public, like getting cyclists to ride in a single file on the road and setting a limit on group sizes. He said AMAP will consult widely, look at the practices in other countries and weigh the tradeoffs and options.
