Among those attending the Vatican’s summit this week on the protection of minors in the church are bishops from the Philippines, considered Asia’s bastion of Catholicism. While the Philippine Catholic Church has a system in place for reporting and acting upon cases of sex abuse by clergymen, advocates point out the need to break free from a culture of silence.
