Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Dennis Tan on Myanmar crisis, US-China rivalry

In Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), MP Dennis Tan sought an update on Singapore’s position on the crisis in Myanmar after the military coup. He also wanted to know what Singapore’s role would be in facilitating consensus for an ASEAN meeting on the issue and what it hopes can be achieved. He said Singaporeans in Myanmar should be made aware of contingency plans for their extraction, should the need arise. Mr Tan also asked about Singapore’s strategy to deal with potential challenges arising from “a new phase” of renewed rivalry between the US and China.
